A very rare and unique 19th stained glass decorative art piece. The middle contains a work by Hermann Ludwig Heubner. The art work looks similar to a reverse painting, but this one one looks like it is on a type of Glassine material.

The frame is beautifully, triple matted with clear glass, red glass, and then another layer of clear glass. My favorite are the ten raised, green square stained glass blocks that symmetrically embellish the frame. Honestly, I can't say enough about this piece. It was well constructed and beautifully executed. However, there is some damage to the outer frame. The top corners of the frame are not soldered together anymore. This makes the top metal strip and the upper portion of the sides loose. Even though they are loose, the metal strips do not fall off, they just move slightly and are not connected at the top. I also found at least 8 cracks within the glass.

This is a stunning piece when the light shines through. There is damage to the landscape with cracks, and melting. To me it looks like the image got too hot, but I am not an expert. Please use the zoom feature to see the details.

Herman Ludwig Heubner was born in 1843, in Leipzig, Germany. Heubner was a painter and graphic artist, and he also worked as a woodcutter. He became the head of xylographers studio in Arland, and was an illustrator for Illustrierte Zeitung, first mass-market German magazine, and for other publications as well. Herman Heubner died in 1915.

An amazing decorative antique piece that will bring joy and antique charm to your home.
