We believe this tray was likely sold in Mr. A.A. Vantine Asian art store in New York (The Oriental Store) as its re-markedly similar to one we've sold in the past. During the early 20th century, Americans had a real attraction for Japanese handicrafts in the United States which made Vantine's store very influential in home decor, fashion, and the like.
